Brian walked through the show’s hairstyle inspiration and how to achieve this cutting-edge angle braid runway look:
“The Designer’s theme was “Birds of Paradise”, so she envisioned the hair to reflect the same. She wanted a high ponytail with an angled braid accent on top of the hair.
Since the ultimate look was sleek, sexy with movement for the ponytail, the key to capture it was with products my team used. The hair was first prepped with SudzzzFx Zenyth to have a base of light serum and shine. Next, Airplay was sprayed on each section before flat ironing to get the hair sleek and straight.
From there, at the arch of the left eyebrow, a 3-strand scalp braid was created at an angle across the top of the head first. Due to having the braid, the Canviiy ScalpBliss™ products were perfect to keep the scalp intact and properly moisturized from the tension of the on-scalp braid. The key to the look was to keep that braid sleek and tight so maintaining tension, while preventing scalp irritation, was important. Once the braid was established, with the tail left out, the remainder of the hair was brushed and pulled up into a high ponytail. PowerFoam was used because it’s amazing to truly get the hair sleek yet in place for a clean look while brushing the hair into a ponytail.
The ponytail was placed at the crown point of the hair, so it stood high and had great movement in the ponytail part as the models worked the runway. The ponytail was secured with a hook elastic. Then I took the tail of the braid and wrapped that around the ponytail to secure it in place.”
The Canviiy ScalpBliss products provided the models with scalp ecstasy as they strutted down the runway, even with the tension of the on-scalp braid and sleek style of the look. Here are some of the looks from the show:
